6/30/2016

Picture
This Sunday, we watched the fifth installment of the Alpha Youth Series titled: Why and How Do I Pray?. This video open up some good discussion prettying to the subject of prayer and how it takes shape in our daily life. We talked about praying in suffering, praying in thanksgiving, and praying in petition. We also shared stories of how prayers have been answered in our own lives, and how we responded to those answers. We discussed how prayer changes us and our attitudes towards people and situations.

The three questions asked in this session were:
  1. If you could be any superhero, who would you be?
  2. Why do you think people don't always get what they pray for?
  3. Have you ever tried praying? What did you pray for? What happened?

FOLLOWUP | Alpha Youth Session 3 - Cross: Why Did Jesus Die?

6/14/2016

Picture
This past Sunday we spent our class time listening and talking about the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Jesus -- leading a sinless life -- carried our sin to the cross so we could have an open and free relationship with the Father. Awesome news, right?! Below are the questions we discussed and more. Maybe you can use these same questions at home to continue the conversation together.

What is one of your most physically painful experiences?
  • Do you have any cool scars?
  • Have you ever broken a bone?
How would you define sin? Do you see it in the world around you?
  • Do you think the problems of the world are getting worse or better?
  • Who should decide what is right and what is wrong?
  • The video mentioned that ‘sin is not just in the world around us but also in each one of us.’ How do you feel about this idea?
Do you think there is a difference between the death of Jesus and other religious leaders, martyrs, or war heroes?
  • If yes, what is it? -or- If not, why?
  • What does the death of Jesus mean to you?
  • Jesus died for you and me because He loves us. What do you think about this idea?

We hope you have a GREAT week!
