The Wise & Foolish Builders

Dear parents,

As we continue through our series on three awesome parables that Jesus taught, we turned our attention this week to the parable of the wise builder and the foolish builder in Matthew 7.

We talked about how Jesus’ words require action on our part to prepare for the storms of life. There’s nothing we can do to avoid some storms, but we must be prepared to face them when they come. Our students also discussed how Jesus stays with us through the chaos.

As you go throughout the week, help reinforce this teaching in your child’s life by asking these kinds of questions as you have the opportunity:

• How is Jesus similar to other people who might offer you wisdom? How is he unlike anyone else with wisdom to share?
• What are the similarities between preparing for a physical storm and preparing spiritually for life’s most difficult moments?
• When have you experienced God’s strength in the middle of tough times?
