Dear parents,
In this third lesson of our series on the Sermon on the Mount, we took a look at the topic of worry and focused our conversation around Jesus’ words in Matthew 6:25-34. It’s amazing how much the issues he addresses in this passage are still relevant to our lives nearly 2,000 years after Jesus spoke. Though it may be easy to think that our students don’t have much to worry about in their lives, many are actually plagued by worry and anxiety. This lesson is so important to remember God’s truth for our lives. Through this lesson our students saw how worry may be inevitable, but Jesus gives us pathways to remove worry from our lives. We challenged our teenagers to hand over their worry to a trustworthy God and live more by faith. As you go throughout the week, help reinforce this teaching in your child’s life by asking the following questions as you have the opportunity:
Next week we will close the Sermon on the Mount series with a lesson on The Lord’s Prayer. We’re praying that these lessons are giving simple but solid life lessons for your teenager (and your family) on these important issues in life. Know we are praying for you as you lead your students closer to Jesus! Don't Judge // Matthew 7:1-6Dear parents,
We’re continuing our four-lesson study on the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5–7. Jesus spoke these lessons to a bunch of people nearly 2,000 years ago, but the truths he spoke remain relevant and important to our lives today. Jesus delivered bold truth about how to engage these life issues, and he practically addressed how to handle them. This week we looked at Jesus’ teaching on how to deal with judging, based on Scripture from both Matthew 7 and Luke 6. Through this lesson our students discussed how judgment is certainly easy and sometimes fun, but Jesus calls us toward another way. We challenged our teenagers to pursue humility through self-examination, forgiveness, and blessing. As you go throughout the week, help reinforce this teaching in your child’s life by asking these kinds of questions as you have the opportunity:
Prayers for your family this week! Next Week | Don't Worry (Matthew 6:25-34) Love Your EnemiesDear parents,
We’ve started a four-lesson study on the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5–7. Jesus spoke these lessons to a bunch of people nearly 2,000 years ago, but the truths he spoke remain relevant and important to our lives today. Jesus delivered bold truth about how to engage these life issues, and he practically addressed how to handle them. In our first lesson, we discussed Jesus’ specific instruction in Matthew 5:43-48 on how to handle our enemies and those who’ve harmed us. Through this lesson our students learned that God gives us specific instructions for how to handle our enemies. We challenged our teenagers to practice praying for and blessing those who’ve wronged us. As you go throughout the week, help reinforce this teaching in your teenager’s life by asking the following questions as you have the opportunity:
As you walk with your child and pray for them this week, remember: Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other (Romans 12:10). Prayers for your family this week! Crucifixion, Resurrection, AscensionDear parents,
We have finished up our brief series based on Jesus’ last days. It was a humbling and inspiring study on how Jesus’ pain and suffering provides us with hope. Jesus’ death and resurrection provide us with hope in the midst of our circumstances because he conquered the grave and so he can conquer our circumstances. We challenged our students to see that nothing is too big for God. We learned that without Christ’s resurrection, our faith is meaningless. In Christ’s resurrection our faith is complete. Use these follow-up questions to keep your teenager thinking about our lesson this week:
Have a hope-filled week! A Sinful Woman Washes Jesus’ FeetDear parents,
This week we finished up our series titled “The Controversial Jesus” by talking about the time when a sinful woman washed the feet of Jesus. The woman used nothing more than a bottle of expensive perfume and her hair to show Jesus how thankful she was for all that he had done for her. It’s an amazing story that reminds us of God’s great love and our great gratitude for forgiveness. As you go throughout the week, help cement this idea in your teenager’s life by asking the following questions:
Have a blessed week! |
