Lesson 3 | Jesus' BirthHello WSYM parents!
On Sunday mornings we are continuing our series on “Jesus.” This past Sunday we started a quick two-lesson study on Jesus’ birth and the early years of his life. Both lessons are focused on finding ways to connect even more to the Christ child as we see how Jesus matured before beginning his earthly ministry. In this first lesson, we focused on what is revealed about Jesus’ miraculous birth in Luke 1:26-38. Mary was favored by God, trusted that what God said would come true, and was obedient. We have the opportunity to respond to God’s call on our lives with a similar level of faith-filled obedience. This week, here are some specific ways you can encourage your teenager to continue learning and applying what we discussed as a group:
Lesson 2 | Why Does Jesus Matter? Why do followers of Christ think Jesus is such a big deal? How has Jesus been amazing to you?
This past Sunday we’ve wrapped up two-lessons looking at some foundational truths about Jesus, and in our time together we talked about why he matters in the lives of those who follow him. We discussed the fact that Jesus came as a sacrifice for our sins so that we could receive forgiveness, live this life with hope, and live forever with God in heaven. I encourage you to keep the conversation going at home this week. Here are some questions you can ask your teenager:
Have a blessed week! Lesson 1 | Who is Jesus? What do you know about Jesus? When friends ask you who Jesus is, how do you respond? Those are some huge questions, right?!
Yesterday we launched into a Bible study series that’s all about Jesus, and our first lesson focused on the basics of who Jesus is and what the Bible reveals about him. Our conversation focused on how Jesus is the Messiah prophesied about in the Old Testament, how he is the Son of God, and how he walked on this Earth just like we do. Each of us -- young and old -- must consider the question of who we believe Jesus is. Our students spent time together examining what the Bible says about Jesus, about how he was the fulfillment of numerous prophecies from the Old Testament, and about how huge that would/should have been for people in the first century. And, how huge that is for us and in our understanding of Jesus! Here are some questions that can keep the conversation going at home this week:
Parents, you also may want to ask your teenager to share with you some of the ideas that he or she has heard about Jesus, and what they think about the religious views of some of their friends. Have an amazing week! |
